Over the years I have been online one of the most common emails I get from downline members and prospects in general goes something like this:

“Hi Lawren

What’s happening? I have been working my ass off this past week and a half and things just aint happening. I’ve bought some leads and sent out two articles but not one sale. I’ll give this a go for another week or two and if I don’t see results I’ll have to move on.”

Have you received anything like this? Maybe you’ve written one similar in your early days;-)?

It saddens me that people come into a business opportunity with the idea that they are going to attain instant profits….not only because of the explaining I have to do to prospects, but because I know the frustration they are going to inflict upon themselves unless they change the mindset with which they have entered this business.

The most I, or anyone like me can do for those of you who ARE finding it difficult to find success is show you a bit of direction and share our own experiences.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES….and in my experience NO SECRETS.

This may be a hard pill to swallow but it is the truth.

My experience of running an online business from home is that it takes time and hard work and YES a lot of frustration, upsets and setbacks along the way. If you surmount the obstacles along the way you will have proven yourself ready to attain success and you WILL get a breakthrough.

It is vitally important that you formulate a plan and budget your money accordingly. You must be prepared to go for at least a few months without making a profit. If you do get into profit with a month or two then this will be a bonus, but be prepared for the long haul.

Another big gripe I hear is that people are spending a fortune on product after product and leaving themselves penniless. This is another main reason for their ultimate failure. Why would you do this to yourself? You MUST discipline yourself, set a monthly or weekly budget and DO NOT go over it.

If you enter the online business opportunity arena, keep in mind the points outlined above. I promise that you will have a realistic chance of succeeding. I and others are certainly on hand to answer your questions and affording you the support to facilitate YOUR success.

Product, Leads, and Advertising – the 3 most important elements of any successful home based business.

For this article we will focus on leads. Leads are people that are interested in making money from home. How do we know this?

For starters, they have either put an ad on the internet stating they want a home based business, or they have filled out a form with one of the lead generation companies.

Now how do we go about getting these so called leads? Some businesses put a simple questioner out over the internet that people can access to answer some simple questions.

These questions are usually, how much time a week you can put towards your business, how much money can you invest in your business, why do you want to work from home, etc.

These questioners are usually short and to the point. Once all this information is gathered the business then contacts that individual to sell them on his business opportunity.

Another way to find leads is through the lead generation companies that are on the internet. There business is to compile all the information and then sell it to business owners to use.

This is where it gets touchy. Today there are so many of these “so called” email list, lead lists etc. How do you know who is legit and who isn’t?

My rule of thumb on this is, a company offering a large amount (over 5000) leads a month is probably not a very good source.

So what makes a good source to find leads? Well what you want to look at is companies that offer what we call “double opt-in” leads.

What that means is each lead had to fill out one of those questioners and had to put a valid email address on that questioner, so that company could email them for confirmation.

That is double opt-in, that person filed out the form, and then got an email from the company asking if they filed out the form. If they did they hit a link that would confirm that to the company.

Then you want to look to see if that company also supplies the address, phone, IP address of the lead.

And what I think is most important, does the company offer leads that are spam compliant! This means you will not be accused of spam when you contact that lead! And will this lead be unique to you.

What I mean by unique to you is, once that lead shows up on your list, it will not show up on anyone else’s lead list.

And last but not least price! Please don’t think that the higher the fee the better the leads will be. This is definitely not true.

I really want to get the word out that a series of small, simple steps can successfully optimize a website, and that ANYONE can learn how to do this, and even charge others a good rate to do so!

I would recommend that anyone interested in this career should be:

Entrepreneurial in nature
Patient
Computer friendly and willing to learn some basic HTML
A good writer
A person who enjoys teaching others and communicating

The first step would be to create some websites in the computer for yourself, and practice, practice, practice. I would also recommend subscribing to some free web design newsletters in order to really keep up with what is going on with search engine and programming trends. Once you feel confident in your ability to design even a simple optimized website in a few hours, get a business license and start hitting the streets in your area. Talk to small business owners and find out which ones don’t have a website. Explain to them why they do need one, what your abilities are, and how much it will cost.

Don’t lie about your limitations or feel bad about charging an hourly rate for your work. Remember that a website you design will usually be less money than a large firm would charge, and that you probably know far more about web design than that business owner does! It may not hurt to locate a graphic designer who would like to do the artwork for the website, as search engine optimized websites are mostly about text, but look nice with some small business logos that match the “theme” of the businesses’ other advertising.

The home business opportunity revolution on the Internet is in full swing. There has never been a better time or opportunity to make money online working at home in front of your computer. The number of money making business opportunities is endless.

With today’s technology it is quite possible to run your entire business online from anywhere in the world using your laptop computer. You no longer need to leave your house to make a living for your family. It can be done from the comfort of your own home. No commute required. No travel time with reduced fuel consumption and maintenance on your vehicles. Best of all you are your own boss.

The amount of people using the internet worldwide continues to increase almost monthly. This bodes well for internet business entrepreneurs and anyone wishing to take advantage of the internet home business industry. Global Internet Statistics shows over 800 million people worldwide are now using the internet.

Just do a search for internet business opportunities on Google or your favorite search engine. You’ll find websites promoting several top Internet home based business products and services from paid surveys online to network marketing and MLM businesses. If you already have your own website you can even sign up with Google ad sense and make money displaying Google ad words ads on your site. In fact everywhere you look on the net almost every single site you go to is making money from some form of advertising or work from home business opportunity.

The internet is forever changing the global job scene and the world economy with new internet business opportunities arriving on the internet every day even as you read this. We can only hope that this will make the world cleaner and a better place to live with less pollution from automobiles and reduced pollution from factories. This in turn could create a backlash on the economy but it has yet to be seen. We all know the reasons behind why we are still using oil and gas rather than clean energy. (It would kill the global economy). Online business opportunities could be just as threatening as electric cars and cars running on fuel cells.

We are indeed in a revolution. The last revolution was called the industrial revolution. This one is called the information revolution. Or what I like to think of it, the home business opportunity revolution.

Writing a startup business plan that works is not as hard as it may seem at first. You may hear dire statistics about the low rate of business plan acceptance by investors and lenders, but you must keep in mind that many fail to achieve funding because of entirely avoidable mistakes.

These are a couple of the common mistakes that can cause a business plan to miss out on funding:

Sections Fail to Fulfill Their Purpose

Every section of a business plan has a purpose, which you can read about in numerous articles and see demonstrated in sample plans and business plan templates. After reading over a section you have written, ask yourself the questions the section is meant to answer and be sure you were able to provide those answers in the text. If the answers were not given or could be clearer, there is room for improvement. For example, the marketing plan must answer the primary question “how will the business reach and win customers?” If a reader completes this section and still cannot tell how exactly you plan to do this, you have work to do.

Proofreading Errors

Don’t let your plan be discarded simply because of simple spelling or grammar errors. Simple errors like this will appear unprofessional and will not inspire confidence in your skill and thoughtfulness on the part of investors. When you feel the content is ready, read the plan multiple times through, then put it aside for a day and read it through again. Read word by word and try reading the plan aloud to be sure that the wording is natural.
